Chelsea working on deals to sign fifth and sixth summer signings – report
Chelsea are working on deals to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Drinkwater before transfer deadline day, according to reports
Chelsea are still working on deals to sign Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to reports in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Premier League champions are in discussions to sign the 23-year-old midfielder from their direct title rivals in the summer transfer window.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal to throw up the possibility of the England international leaving on a free transfer in 2018.
The same story claims that Chelsea are set to make a fresh bid to sign former Manchester United youth player Drinkwater from 2016 champions Leicester.
According to the Evening Standard article, the Blues are ready to improve their offer for Drinkwater after the Foxes rejected a £20m bid last week.
Chelsea have already signed four players in the summer transfer window so far as Antonio Conte looks to retain the Premier League crown.
Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata have all been added to the Chelsea squad.
The Blues suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Burnley in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
