Chelsea are confident of concluding a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the close of the summer transfer window despite interest from Liverpool, according to reports.
The Gambling Times is reporting that the Premier League champions are prepared to pay £35m plus add-ons for the England international after Oxlade-Chamberlain entered the final 12 months of his current deal at Arsenal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s negotiations with the north London side about a new contract have no progressed well as the Gunners refuse to give the 24-year-old attacking midfielder a significant wage boost, according to the story.
The same article reveals that Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all made enquiries about the England star but Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to remain in the English capital following his move to Arsenal from Southampton in 2010.
The Gunners star has also attracted interest from some top European clubs such as AC Milan, Inter Milan, Monaco and Sevilla but the Arsenal midfielder has rejected the interest.
Oxlade-Chamberlain started Arsenal’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Leicester City in their Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The north London side have signed France striker Alexandre Lacazette and Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in the summer transfer window so far.
