Chelsea remain confident of signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is also attracting interest from Liverpool, according to reports
Chelsea are increasingly confident of signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £35m deal despite interest from Liverpool, according to reports in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Premier League champions are still hoping to conclude a deal to bring the England international to Chelsea from Arsenal before transfer deadline day.
The same article reveals that Liverpool have retained an interest in the 24-year-old as Jurgen Klopp looks to land his fourth summer signing.
According to the same story, Arsene Wenger is planning talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain as the Arsenal manager looks to secure the England midfielder’s future at the Emirates Stadium.
The former Southampton midfielder has already entered the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract after the north London side failed to agree a new deal with the versatile Premier League star.
Oxlade-Chamberlain started both Arsenal’s 4-3 win against Leicester City on the opening day of the new season and the Gunners’ 1-0 loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium last weekend.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
Arsenal have signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac in the summer transfer window so far.
