Antonio Conte sends direct message to Chelsea board about signings
The Chelsea manager is hoping his employers can strengthen the champions' squad ahead of the new season
Antonio Conte has urged the Chelsea board to strengthen their squad before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions have already signed four players this summer as Antonio Conte looks to improve his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Conte has signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Real Madrid.
However, Chelsea have also sold Serbia international Nemanja Matic to direct title rivals Manchester United in a £40m deal this summer.
The west London side have also seen club captain John Terry leave the English champions to Championship side Aston Villa.
Conte has told Chelsea striker Diego Costa that he is free to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window amid interest from Atletico Madrid and AC Milan.
The Blues coach has also seen four squad players leave the club this summer to leave the Premier League champions looking short on depth.
Speaking to Sky Sports News about Chelsea’s remaining transfer plans, Conte is optimistic that the board will get some more additions into the west London club.
Conte said: “I think most importantly is my club knows very well which is are priorities and I hope to try to work, to improve our squad, to improve our quality and then to be ready to fight for this season.”
Chelsea won the title with two games to spare last season.
