Frank Lampard makes prediction about Chelsea summer signings
The Chelsea legend believes Antonio Conte will bring in some new faces before the close of the summer transfer window
Frank Lampard is confident that Antonio Conte will bring in some more Chelsea signings before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions have endured a mixed summer transfer window so far after Conte led the west London side to title glory in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have signed four players as the Italian coach looks to build a team capable of retaining their top-flight crown but challenge for the Champions League title.
The Blues have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
However, the west London side’s summer additions have been offset by the departure of six squad players to leave Conte’s squad looking remarkably lightweight.
Chelsea lost to bitter rivals Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon after Sead Kolasinac cancelled out Victor Moses’ second-half opener.
Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard believes Conte will bring in some new faces before the summer transfer window comes to a close.
“He [Conte] wants reinforcements, and I think he’ll probably get them,” Lampard told BT Sport on Sunday evening.
Chelsea will begin their title defence with a home clash against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues will be looking to win their third title in four seasons.
