Chelsea are set to make a second offer to sign Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to reports
Chelsea are preparing a second bid to sign Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to reports.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Premier League champions are looking to sign the England international in the summer transfer window.
The Blues have already failed with one offer to sign the experienced midfielder but the defending champions are set to return with an improved bid.
Drinkwater was part of the Leicester side that won the title under Claudio Ranieri in the 2015-16 season before the Foxes struggled last term.
Chelsea are facing a crisis in midfield ahead of their trip to Wembley to take on north London rival Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues sold Serbia international Nemanja Matic to Manchester United in a £40m deal earlier this month.
Summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko remains a fitness doubt as the defensive midfielder continues to recovery from a knee problem.
Chelsea will be without Cesc Fabregas after the Spain international was sent off during their shock 3-2 loss to Burnley in their Premier League opener last weekend.
The west London side have signed four players in the summer transfer window so far but have seen important squad players such as Matic, Nathan Ake and John Terry leave the club.
