Chelsea in talks to secure £50m deal for 28-year-old striker – report
Chelsea are looking to offload Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid in a £50m deal, according to reports
Chelsea are in discussions with Atletico Madrid to secure a £50m deal for Diego Costa, according to reports.
The Daily Mail, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Premier League champions are in negotiations with los Rojiblancos about the sale of Costa to his former employers.
The same article states that Atletico are prepared to offer up to £41m with a further £9m in add-ons for the controversial centre-forward.
According to the same story, Chelsea still haven’t reached a compromise to sign the 28-year-old striker but Costa is determined to secure a return to the Spanish side.
Costa isn’t training with the Blues squad after being told by Antonio Conte that he is surplus to requirements for the 2017-18 season.
The Chelsea forward is currently in Brazil as the west London side look to offload the Spanish forward before the close of the summer transfer window.
Costa moved to Chelsea in a £32m deal from Atletico in the 2014 summer transfer window during Jose Mourinho’s second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian-born scored 20 times in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign last season to win his second Premier League crown in three seasons.
Costa has also won the EFL Cup during his three-season stint spell.
