Chelsea face few hurdles to sign promising 19-year-old midfielder, claims insider
Chelsea face a number of issues that could prevent a deal to sign Renato Sanches this summer, according to ESPN FC reporter David Amoyal
Chelsea are facing a number of complications in a potential deal to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches, according to ESPN FC expert David Amoyal.
The Premier League champions are interested in signing the 19-year-old midfielder in the summer transfer window following a disappointing first season in the Bundesliga for Sanches.
Chelsea signed French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco last month before the Blues decided to offload Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
Sanches moved to Bayern Munich in a big-money deal ahead of interest from Manchester United last summer but manager Carlo Ancelotti failed to give the teenager regular first-team football.
The Portugal international struggled badly during Bayern Munich’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the Audi Cup on Tuesday evening.
ESPN FC reporter Amoyal revealed that Chelsea must convince Bayern to do a deal and see off competition from Serie A giants AC Milan.
“Even prior to Corentin Tolisso’s arrival, Sanches was clamouring for more playing time,” Amoyal wrote in his ESPN FC column.
“With Nemanja Matic’s sale to Manchester United completed, Chelsea have one less rival for Sanches’ signature and also can offer the player the increased role he desires.
“The Blues however face a few hurdles, as Milan have also been in talks with the player’s agent, while on Monday, Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that Sanches will stay at the club this summer.”
Chelsea are preparing to take on Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
