The Premier League champions have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old attacker before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Barkley is expected to leave Goodison Park this summer but the playmaker’s wage demands have held up a potential summer switch.
Tottenham are thought to be monitoring the England international but chairman Daniel Levy will be unwilling to break his wage structure for an unpredictable player.
Chelsea are closing in on deals to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater which could affect Barkley’s move to Stamford Bridge.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed that Chelsea are still keeping tabs on Barkley with less than two days to go until Thursday’s deadline.
“Chelsea are still very, very interested in signing Ross Barkley,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Tuesday morning.
“He has under a year left on his contract at Everton and is refusing to sign a new deal.
“Everton, though, will not let him go cheaply and he’s currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. Spurs are also very, very keen on signing him too.”
Barkley scored five goals and has made eight assists in 36 games in the Premier League in the 2016-17 season.
Chelsea have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window so far.
The defending champions have beaten Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in their last two Premier League games.
