Antonio Conte admits that Chelsea are still in need of a number of new signings this summer
Antonio Conte has admitted that Chelsea are still in need of a number of players this summer and has ruled out making one single statement signing.
The Blues have been one of the busier teams in the transfer window so far, having tied up deals for Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
However, the west London side continue to be linked with a number of other players as Conte prepares for his second season in charge at the west London club.
Paris Saint-Germain made the most expensive transfer in history last week when they completed a €222m deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona.
However, Conte says that Chelsea are not out to do something similar, and that the west London club are in need of multiple reinforcements, rather than splashing the cash on one single player.
Conte is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard: “I think now is not the right moment for Chelsea to spend so much money on one player because we need many players.
“It’s important to divide this amount of money to buy many players.”
Chelsea are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season after the Italian manager led the Blues to the Premier League title in his first campaign in charge at the club.
The west London side will go straight into the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition after their title triumph.
