Jose Mourinho wants to sign 26-year-old winger for Man United before deadline – report
Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Riyad Mahrez for Manchester United before Thursday's deadline, say reports
Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Riyad Mahrez for Manchester United before the transfer window closes, according to reports in France.
French outlet SFR, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Portuguese coach is keen to bring the 26-year-old Algeria international to Old Trafford but is yet to convince the Manchester United board to make the move.
Mahrez’s future has been a source of speculation all summer after he publicly expressed his desire to leave Leicester City.
The Algeria international has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks but if the latest reports in France are to be believed, Manchester United could yet make a late bid for the attacker.
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to add one more player to his squad before the transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Thursday night.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Croatia winger Ivan Perisic all summer but that deal has not materialised.
Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic so far this summer, and have also re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year deal.
Mourinho’s men are flying high at the top of the Premier League table after having won all three of their opening games.
