Latest news on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Arsenal future revealed – report
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain held talks with Arsenal about his future at the club last week
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future at Arsenal remains in doubt after the midfielder held talks with the club last week, according to reports in the British media.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the 24-year-old held talks with Arsene Wenger and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis last week.
The same story says that contrary to reports, Oxlade-Chamberlain was offered a new contract but it was worth less than the £180,000 a week deal that has been reported elsewhere.
However, the story also claims that there was no indication that the England midfielder would be signing a new contract at The Emirates.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has less than a year left to run on his current contract at The Emirates and the report says he is attracting interest from both Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.
The same article says Chelsea are “increasingly confident” that they will be able to secure a deal to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain before the close of the transfer window on Thursday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently preparing for Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners look to return to winning ways in the top flight after their 1-0 loss to Stoke City last weekend at the bet365 Stadium.
