David James heaped praise on Sadio Mane after the forward scored Liverpool’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Reds were looking to record their first Premier League win of the new season after a 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend.

Liverpool dominated the possession in the opening 45 minutes but the Merseyside outfit struggled to make the breakthrough.

Mane got into the game more in the second half and the Senegal international broke the deadlock with a close-range finish to score his second Premier League goal of the 2017-18 season.

Substitutes Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke came close to extending the home’s side lead following Mane’s opener but Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey denied the Liverpool duo.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper James lavished praise on Mane for his winner as Jurgen Klopp’s moved into the top half of the Premier League table.

James wrote on Twitter: “Boom!! @DomSolanke assist! 1-0 @LFC , the Mane man! #LIVCRY #YNWA”

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League.

The Reds signed three players in the summer transfer window as Klopp looked to prepare his squad for competing on four different fronts this term.
