Paul Merson reckons that Liverpool could end up “running riot” over Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners head to Anfield looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-0 loss to Stoke City in the Premier League last weekend.

Liverpool, meanwhile, head into the clash in good form, having booked their place in the group stage of the Champions League thanks to their 6-3 aggregate win over Hoffenheim in midweek.

Defeat for Arsenal would mark a dismal start to the new season for Arsene Wenger’s men and would leave them with just three points from their opening three games.

However, former Arsenal star Merson is tipping Liverpool to claim all three points by beating the Gunners in front of their home fans on Sunday.

Writing in his column for the Daily Star, Merson said: “Liverpool could run riot over Arsenal this weekend.”

Arsenal are aiming to better their Premier League form this season after they ended up in fifth place last term.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are bidding to step up their performances and challenge for the title this season after they finished in fourth place last term in what was Jurgen Klopp’s first full campaign in charge.
