Shay Given is tipping Philippe Coutinho to leave Liverpool and sign for Barcelona this summer.
The Brazilian playmaker’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks amid claims that Barcelona want to bring him to Camp Nou.
Liverpool are believed to have recently turned down a big-money bid for the 25-year-old, with the Reds under no pressure to sell because he only signed a new five-year contract back in January.
However, the midfielder was reported to have handed in a transfer request earlier this month in a bid to try and force through a move to the Spanish side.
Liverpool appear to be firm in their stance that Coutinho is not for sale this summer, but former goalkeeper Given feels that the attacker will definitely end up at Camp Nou.
Asked what he thinks will happen with the Coutinho situation, Given told Sky Sports News on Thursday morning: “Personally, I think he’ll go to Barcelona.
“My thinking is that at the start of the summer, Jurgen Klopp was saying that he’s staying. In recent weeks, he’s said it’s a little bit out of his hands and that it’s a business decision from the owners.
“That tells me that he’s going to go. He’s put a transfer request in and I think he’ll be at the Nou Camp come September.
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds were held to a 3-3 draw in their opening Premier League game of the season at Watford last weekend, as Coutinho sat out the clash due to injury.
