Liverpool FC agree to sell top 25-year-old attacker – report
Liverpool FC have finally decided to accept Philippe Coutinho's request to join Barcelona, say reports
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to reports.
Yahoo! Sport is reporting that the Reds have agreed a deal worth €160m (£148m) for Coutinho to move to Camp Nou after the relentless speculation about his future.
Coutinho’s situation has never been far from the headlines this summer, with Barcelona thought to have been keen on luring the Brazilian to Anfield after Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, if the latest reports are to be believed, Liverpool are set to agree to sell the attacker to the Spanish giants before the deadline at 23:00 BST on Thursday.
The same report says that Coutinho was informed this week that Liverpool had decided to finally accept his request to leave Anfield and sign for the Spanish giants.
The story also says that Liverpool have asked Barcelona to delay the completion of the transfer until they can find an adequate replacement, with Thomas Lemar and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain potential targets.
Liverpool have had a busy summer so far, after having tied up deals for Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.
The Reds have also landed a deal to bring Naby Keita to Anfield from RB Leipzig next summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to assemble a team capable of challenging for honours in all four competitions.
