Guillem Balague delivers latest news to Liverpool fans about Philippe Coutinho
Guillem Balague says Liverpool are lining up a third bid to try and sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool
Barcelona are preparing a third bid to try and sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this summer, according to Guillem Balague.
The Brazilian playmaker’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent days as Barcelona reportedly look to try and sign him as a replacement for Neymar.
Coutinho’s future has become a huge source of debate since the 25-year-old was reported to have handed in a transfer request on Friday.
However, although Spanish football expert Balague has suggested that Barcelona are getting ready to make a new bid for the Brazilian, he says that Liverpool have no intention of selling the playmaker this summer.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday morning, Balague said: “Barcelona are preparing a third bid.
“There have been reports in Spain that there’s going to be a meeting between Liverpool and Barcelona this week – it’s not true.
“Liverpool have got no plans at all to meet Barcelona this week and actually they have no plans to accept any offer from Barcelona.
“Right now at this point, Liverpool are saying, ‘we’re not selling’.”
Liverpool fans will be hoping to see Coutinho stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window, with the playmaker having established himself as one of the Premier League’s top attacking talents in recent seasons.
Coutinho only signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool back in January, meaning that the Merseyside outfit are under no pressure to sell the attacker.
Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon after their 3-3 draw with Watford last weekend.
