Frank Lampard predicts where Liverpool will finish this season
Frank Lampard delivers his verdict on Liverpool's hopes in the Premier League this season
Frank Lampard doesn’t believe that Liverpool will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
The Reds are gearing up for their second full season under Jurgen Klopp following the German coach’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in October 2015.
Liverpool had looked like they were on course to challenge for the Premier League title in the early stages of last season but the Reds suffered a dip in form after the turn of the year and ended up battling for a top-four finish.
Klopp’s side eventually ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table as they secured Champions League qualification for next season.
However, former Chelsea star Lampard does not believe that the Reds are likely to finish in the Premier League’s top four this time around.
Speaking on BT Sport before the Community Shield, Lampard said: “I don’t think so [Liverpool will finish in the top four].
“I love Liverpool, I love watching them and I love Klopp and the way they play.
“I just think that over the course of the season they need more. That’s why they’re not making the top four for me.”
Liverpool will take on Hoffenheim in the Champions League play-off round as they look to book their place in the group stage of the competition.
Before that, though, the Reds will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Watford on 12 August.
