Jurgen Klopp praised Alberto Moreno for his performance in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge handed the Reds a pre-season win in Munich as the Merseyside outfit continued their preparations for the new campaign.

Klopp was particularly impressed by Moreno’s efforts, however, as the Spanish defender caught the eye with a resilient display.

Moreno’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months after he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Liverpool team last season, with James Milner filling in at left-back for much of the campaign.

However, the Liverpool boss appeared to be very impressed by what he saw from the Spaniard against the Bundesliga outfit on Tuesday night.

Speaking at his post-match news conference after the game, Moreno said: “It was a really good game from Alberto, that’s why we kept him on, because every second he was playing better, he was more present.

“He’s really fit but he’s had a little problem with his thigh since the day before yesterday.

“But we had a test with him this morning and he really played well. The players decide themselves how many games they play.”

Liverpool are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after they finished in fourth place in the table.
