Robbie Fowler sends message to Liverpool fans about Daniel Sturridge
Robbie Fowler is thrilled to see Daniel Sturridge still at Liverpool despite speculation about his future before the summer
Robbie Fowler admits he is glad that Daniel Sturridge is still at Liverpool despite his fitness issues.
The England international has struggled to make an impression in the Liverpool team since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as manager in 2015.
Sturridge has spent a large part of the German’s first two seasons in charge sidelined with injury problems to limit his impact on the side.
When the 28-year-old has been fit, Sturridge hasn’t looked at ease with Klopp’s system to raise questions about his future at the club.
Indeed, the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker was linked with a potential move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United last season.
However, former Liverpool striker Fowler is thrilled that Sturridge is still at the Merseyside outfit.
“He is still a fantastic player. I’m glad he is still at Liverpool. He is a good player,” Fowler told ITV Sport.
Sturridge scored Liverpool’s third goal in a 3-0 win against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly last Tuesday evening before he was forced off with a fresh injury problem.
The Liverpool striker moved to Anfield in a £12m deal from Chelsea in the 2013 January transfer window.
The England forward is still waiting to win his first piece of silverware as a Liverpool player.
