Harry Redknapp predicts where Liverpool will finish next season
Harry Redknapp is not expecting Liverpool to be genuine Premier League title contenders next season
Harry Redknapp does not believe that Liverpool will win the Premier League title next season.
The Reds are preparing for their second full campaign under Jurgen Klopp following the German coach’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in October 2015.
Klopp led the Reds to a fourth-placed finish last term as they secured a return to the Champions League in his first full season in charge.
Liverpool were talked about as potential title contenders last season but their form tailed off in the second half of the campaign as they instead set their sights on a fourth-placed finish.
Klopp will be hoping to make further progress with his team next season and steer them towards a Premier League title challenge.
However, Birmingham City boss Redknapp feels that it’s unlikely the Reds will be genuine title contenders next season, although he has been very impressed with Klopp’s work at Anfield.
Redknapp is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “I don’t see Jurgen Klopp taking his team to the title although he is an outstanding manager and they will be right up there.
“Liverpool will always be one of my favourite clubs. There’s nowhere like Anfield when the Kop is singing.
“There is nothing better in England than hearing that. But, in terms of being champions of England, I don’t think they are quite there yet.
“Of course if Jurgen gets them going like he did in the first half of last season… then who knows?”
Liverpool have made three signings so far this summer as Klopp prepares his team for a return to the Champions League, bringing in Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
