Jamie Carragher predicts where Liverpool will finish this term
Jamie Carragher says that a top-four finish would represent a good campaign in the Premier League for Liverpool this season
Jamie Carragher believes that a top-four finish would represent a good campaign in the Premier League for Liverpool this season.
The Reds successfully secured their return to the Champions League for this season after Jurgen Klopp led the Merseyside outfit to a top-four finish in his first full campaign at the club.
Liverpool will take on Hoffenheim later this month for a place in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
Before that, though, the Reds will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Watford on Saturday lunchtime.
Much of the build-up to the new season for Liverpool has been focused on the future of Philippe Coutinho, who continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.
But looking ahead to the 2017-18 campaign, Carragher feels that Liverpool should be targeting a top-four finish in the Premier League, as well as one of the other trophies on offer.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I’m not going to say they’ve got a great chance of the title.
“With the added burden of European football and more games, a good target for Liverpool would be a top-four finish and a trophy.”
Liverpool have brought in three players so far this summer as Klopp gears up for his second full season at the club.
The Reds have recruited Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson so far, with the window set to close at the end of the month.
