Jurgen Klopp replies when asked about Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool future
Jurgen Klopp remained quiet when quizzed about Philippe Coutinho's future after Liverpool's win over Hoffenheim
Jurgen Klopp refused to be drawn into discussing Philippe Coutinho’s future as the Liverpool playmaker’s situation continues to be a source of speculation.
The Brazilian playmaker has been heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona in recent days as the Spanish side look for a replacement for Neymar following his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool have made it clear that they do not want to sell Coutinho this summer, despite the player himself having handed in a transfer request earlier this month.
The 25-year-old, who has been struggling with a back injury, was once again not involved during Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Hoffenheim as the Reds reached the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
Klopp was quizzed about Coutinho’s situation after Wednesday’s game, but the Liverpool manager was not in the mood to discuss the midfielder’s future.
Klopp told his post-match news conference when asked about Coutinho: “There is nothing else to say.
“It’s not that I don’t want to talk about it, I just have nothing to say.”
Liverpool are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday as they look to make it back to back home wins following their victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.
The Reds are aiming to build on their fourth-placed finish from last season this term.
