Barcelona convinced they will sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool – report
Barcelona are confident that they will be able to complete a deal to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, say reports
Barcelona are convinced that they will be able to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Spanish side feel sure that they will be able to secure the signing of the 25-year-old Brazilian playmaker in a deal worth around £90m to Liverpool.
The same report, however, states that Liverpool are determined to keep hold of Coutinho and that the Reds turned down a £72m bid from Barcelona this summer.
Barcelona, though, now have plenty of transfer funds available after having sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in a £198m deal last week.
The same story says that Coutinho’s proposed transfer to Barcelona could become the joint-second biggest in history and match the £90m deal Manchester United paid to bring Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford from Everton this summer.
Liverpool fans will be keen to see Coutinho stay at the club, with the playmaker widely regarded as one of the finest attacking talents in the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit will take on Hoffenheim in their Champions League play-off clash later this month as they bid to reach the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
