Steven Gerrard is backing Liverpool to finish in second place in the Premier League table this season.
Jurgen Klopp steered the Reds to fourth place in his first full season in charge of the Merseyside outfit last term.
Liverpool saw off competition from FA Cup winners Arsenal to secure the final Champions League spot and qualify for the competition for the first time since 2013-14.
However, the Reds will have to beat Roberto Firmino’s former team Hoffenheim over two legs to secure a place in the group-stage draw later this month.
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson.
The 18-time English champions are facing a battle to keep Brazil international Philippe Coutinho beyond the summer transfer window amid interest from Barcelona.
Former Liverpool captain Gerrard is confident Klopp’s side can finish in second place in the Premier League to make further progress under the charismatic German coach.
“I think last year against all the top six they were excellent,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“They had a really good record and in pre-season they’re looking very strong.
“Liverpool to me look really, really dangerous, especially on the counter-attack.
“If they can learn and break teams down at home, and defend a bit better, I think Liverpool will be a force.”
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have never won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
