Michael Owen explains why he can’t wait to see new Liverpool signing in action
Michael Owen admits he can't wait to see the impact that Mohamed Salah will have at Liverpool next season
Michael Owen is backing Mohamed Salah to be a big hit at Liverpool next season after his arrival at the club from Roma.
Salah became Liverpool’s second signing of the summer earlier in the transfer window as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bring in some attacking reinforcements.
The Egypt international joins the Reds after having failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team at Chelsea before he completed a permanent move to Roma.
Salah will be hoping to play a key role for Liverpool next season as they gear up for a return to the Champions League.
Liverpool will also be hoping to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season after they finished in fourth place in the table last term.
And Owen admits that he is excited about seeing how Salah can fit into Liverpool’s team next season.
Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Owen said: “Mohamed Salah is a really good signing.
“He didn’t quite nail it at Chelsea but he was young at the time. He’s gone away and had success at Roma and if you’re an attacking player with loads of pace, then you’re valuable.
“Liverpool are looking like a team with a really potent attack.”
Liverpool kick off their new Premier League campaign with a trip to Watford on Saturday 12 August.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the table last term in what was Klopp’s first full season in charge at the club.
Liverpool are set to take on Hoffenheim in the Champions League play-off round later this month.
