Martin Keown is tipping Liverpool to miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

The Reds enjoyed a successful second full season under Jurgen Klopp last term as the German manager led the Merseyside outfit to a fourth-placed finish to secure a return to the Champions League.

Liverpool will take on Hoffenheim as they look to book a place in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition later this month.

The Merseyside outfit will be aiming to build on their top-four finish from last season and look to mount a serious title challenge this term.

However, Arsenal legend Keown is not sure that Klopp’s men will be able to secure Champions League qualification for the second season running.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Keown said: “They only scraped into the top four last season and I can see them missing out on a Champions League place this time.”

Liverpool have brought in three new players so far this summer as Klopp gears up for his second full season in charge at the club.

The Reds are preparing to take on Watford in their Premier League opener at Vicarage Road on Saturday lunchtime as they look to get their campaign off to a positive start.

However, Philippe Coutinho will not feature for the Merseyside outfit due to injury.
