Jamie Carragher opens up about Liverpool signing: ‘He’s obsessed’
Jamie Carragher believes that Mohamed Salah is "obsessed" about scoring goals for Liverpool
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Mohamed Salah looks like he’s “obsessed” with scoring goals for Liverpool.
The Egypt winger became Liverpool’s biggest signing of the summer so far when the former Chelsea man joined the Reds from AS Roma back in June.
Salah opened his Premier League account for his new club in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Watford on Saturday lunchtime as Jurgen Klopp’s men were forced to settle for a point in their season opener.
However, Reds legend Carragher was clearly impressed by what he saw from Salah and is tipping the attacker to enjoy a strong first season in the Premier League with Liverpool.
The Liverpool legend is tipping Salah to score a lot of goals for the Reds in his debut campaign at Anfield.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “This fella will score goals for Liverpool. He’s a wide man who looks obsessed by scoring goals.
“I think wide players have got to get in double figures [for goals], certainly at a top club. There’s too many wide players who go a season scoring one or two goals.
“The reason is they hug the touchline but they never come away from the touchline.
“At times I’d like him to come a little bit wider just to create that space because people might work him out if he plays so narrow, there’s no space to run.
“With him and Mane on the other side, not classic wingers getting down the line getting crosses in, but those two players will score goals as we saw at the weekend.”
Liverpool are now preparing for their next Premier League game – a clash against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds are looking to build on their top-four finish under Klopp last season as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title, after falling short in the race last term.
