Steven Gerrard praises new Liverpool signing: ‘He’ll add another dimension’
Steven Gerrard heaps praise on Mohamed Salah after the winger signed for Liverpool from Roma
Steven Gerrard has praised Liverpool’s signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma this summer, claiming that the attacker will “add another dimension” to the Reds’ attack this season.
Liverpool signed the winger from Roma back in June as Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bolster his attacking options at Anfield ahead of his second full season in charge at the club.
Salah already has Premier League experience after having failed to establish himself as a regular during his short spell at Chelsea before eventually being sold to Roma.
However, former Liverpool captain Gerrard has already been impressed by what he has seen from Salah so far and is tipping him to have a big impact for the Reds this term.
Speaking on BT Sport on Tuesday night, Gerrard said: “He had similar stats to Philippe Coutinho last season even though they are very different players.
“He did really well at Roma and didn’t really do too well at Chelsea. But he seems to have grown and improved.
“With age, he’s certainly becoming a top, top player. This kid can score goals. His finishing is terrific and he’s also capable of getting really good assists.
“I think he’ll give Liverpool another dimension this season.”
Liverpool, who finished fourth last season, secured a 2-1 victory over German side Hoffenheim on Tuesday night as they won the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie.
The Reds will now turn their attentions towards preparing to host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday as Klopp’s men look to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-3 draw with Watford last weekend in their Premier League opener.
