Liverpool could sign £60m-rated 26-year-old attacker – report
Liverpool will turn their attentions towards trying to sign Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli if Philippe Coutinho leaves, say reports
Liverpool will turn their attentions towards signing Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli if Philippe Coutinho does leave the club this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Jurgen Klopp has identified the 26-year-old as his prime target if the Reds end up selling Coutinho to Barcelona.
The same report claims that Klopp is a long-term admirer of Insigne and that he would target a move for the attacker if Coutinho left.
However, the Reds could face a battle in convincing Napoli to sell one of their prized assets this summer, according to the same story.
The story says that Liverpool can expect to net around £100m should they sell Coutinho to Barcelona this summer and that would give them the financial muscle needed to tempt Napoli into selling Insigne, who scored 20 goals from midfield for the Serie A side last season.
Coutinho’s future has been a relentless source of speculation over the weekend after the playmaker emailed in a transfer request after training on Friday.
Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign without Coutinho on Saturday lunchtime, as they played out a 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.
