Steven Gerrard tells Liverpool fans where Philippe Coutinho will end up this season
Steven Gerrard feels sure that Philippe Coutinho will stay at Liverpool beyond the summer transfer window
Steven Gerrard is confident that Philippe Coutinho will stay at Liverpool for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
The Brazilian playmaker’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent days after Barcelona’s public pursuit of the attacker after their sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.
The situation got even more complicated for Liverpool when Coutinho was widely reported to have handed in a transfer request late last week.
However, Liverpool will be determined to keep hold of their 25-year-old talisman, especially given that he only signed a new five-year contract with the Merseyside club back in January.
And former Liverpool captain Gerrard is convinced that Coutinho is set to stay on at Liverpool, despite the speculation about his future.
Asked whether he thinks Coutinho will stay or go, Gerrard replied on Premier League Tonight on BT Sport: “He stays [at Liverpool], for me.”
Liverpool made a stuttering start to the new Premier League season on Saturday when they slumped to a disappointing 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Merseyside outfit will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Hoffenheim in their Champions League play-off clash on Tuesday night.
