Insider gives latest update on Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool future
Liverpool still have no intention of selling Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to Aidan Magee
Liverpool remain adamant that Philippe Coutinho will not be sold this summer, despite the relentless speculation linking him with Barcelona, according to reporter Aidan Magee.
The Sky Sports News journalist has revealed that Liverpool’s stance on the Brazilian playmaker has not changed, despite the heavy speculation linking Coutinho with Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent days and that speculation has heightened following reports that the player himself handed in a transfer request last week.
However, reporter Magee has revealed that Liverpool are remaining firm in their stance, despite a Barcelona representative claiming that a deal to sign Coutinho was getting closer.
Magee said on Sky Sports News on Thursday morning: “We’ll start with the future of Philippe Coutinho and his proposed move from Liverpool to Barcelona.
“Their general manager is confident of signing Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund before the transfer window closes.
“He claims deals for both are close. Coutinho’s future remains uncertain, though. Liverpool are adamant he won’t leave despite the midfielder handing in a transfer request.”
Liverpool began their Premier League campaign without Coutinho on Saturday as they slumped to a 3-3 draw at Watford in their opener.
The Brazilian, who is sidelined with a back problem, also missed the 2-1 Champions League play-off victory over Hoffenheim in midweek.
Liverpool are now preparing for their first home Premier League game of the season at Anfield as they get ready to host Crystal Palace on Merseyside.
The Reds have brought in Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke this summer so far.
