New Liverpool FC signing sends message to fans after transfer agreed
Naby Keita speaks out for the first time since his transfer to Liverpool FC from RB Leipzig was confirmed
Naby Keita has revealed his delight at completing a transfer to Liverpool, with the midfielder set to officially become a Reds player next summer.
After months of speculation linking the Reds with a move to sign the Guinea international, Liverpool finally confirmed that they had reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield.
Liverpool managed to find a compromise with the German club in a deal which allows Keita to remain in Germany for the 2017-18 campaign before joining the Reds next summer.
And the player himself has now spoken for the first time since the deal was confirmed by Liverpool on Tuesday morning.
Keita said in an interview with Liverpool’s website: “I am delighted that an agreement has been reached which will allow me to join Liverpool Football Club next summer, when I will become part of a project that excites me greatly,” he said.
“My commitment to RBL remains absolute for the remainder of my time at the club. I have given my all every time I have worn the shirt – that will be the case until the final whistle, in my final appearance.
“Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve great things this season. Until I join my new club, next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance.”
Liverpool are still being linked with a number of other players and it remains to be seen whether the Reds will be able to conclude any more transfer deals before the window shuts on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have made a brilliant start to the new season, after thrashing Arsenal 4-0 on Sunday to move up to second place in the Premier League table.
The Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday 9 September.
