Liverpool reach verbal agreement to sign 23-year-old from Real Madrid – report
Liverpool are hoping to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid before the close of the summer transfer window, say reports
Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Reds are keen to bring the 23-year-old Croatia international to Anfield after he struggled for game-time under Zinedine Zidane.
The same report claims that Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign Kovacic from Real Madrid as Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the midfielder.
Kovacic started for Real Madrid in both of their Spanish Super Cup games against Barcelona this month.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds will be able to conclude a deal to sign Kovacic from Real Madrid before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Liverpool continue to be linked with a host of players this summer but have so far only concluded deals to sign Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.
The Reds picked up their first Premier League win of the season on Saturday when they beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Anfield.
Liverpool are now preparing for their crunch clash against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
