Liverpool primed to make move to clinch fourth summer signing – report
Liverpool are ready to make another move to try and bring Virgil van Dijk to the club from Southampton, say reports
Liverpool are “primed” to make another move to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton this summer as the defender looks to force his way out of the club, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Reds are prepared to make another move for the defender as the Dutchman aims to try and push through a switch away from St Mary’s.
The player has been training alone at Southampton in recent days, with the 26-year-old seemingly desperate to secure a transfer away from the club, according to the same report.
The story also says that Southampton are going to have to accept that any efforts to keep Van Dijk at the club this summer are probably going to be “futile”.
The same article says that Liverpool are now ready to pay around £60m to try and bring Van Dijk to Anfield after their failed pursuit of him earlier in the summer.
The story also suggests that Liverpool is Van Dijk’s preferred destination this summer, with both Manchester City and Chelsea having pulled out of the race for his signature.
Liverpool have only signed four players so far this summer, after having tied up deals for Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson so far.
