Ian Wright suggests Liverpool could sign top 23-year-old attacker
The Arsenal legend believes there is a chance Liverpool could sign Julian Draxler from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain last summer
Ian Wright believes there is a strong chance Liverpool could sign Julian Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Germany international moved to the Ligue 1 side in a £40m deal from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 in the January transfer window earlier this year.
However, Draxler has been told that he is free to leave PSG this summer after the French club signed Brazil international Neymar in a world-record £198m deal.
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old over the past couple of seasons before Draxler completed his switch to PSG.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp made a late bid to sign the German forward in January before his move to PSG.
Liverpool are facing the real prospect of losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona as the Catalan side look to sign the Brazilian playmaker to help fill Neymar’s void.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Draxler could complete a switch to Liverpool given the transfer activity at the Ligue 1 side this summer.
“Surely in this market, we’ve seen the ins and outs of what’s going on at PSG, this is a reason why you could say it does happen,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window.
The Reds played out a 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road in their Premier League opener last weekend.
