Jurgen Klopp told to make these two Liverpool signings before deadline day
Jurgen Klopp should look to spend big on new signings to bolster his Liverpool squad before Thursday, says John Aldridge
John Aldridge has urged Liverpool to splash the cash on completing some big-name signings before the close of the transfer window next week.
The Reds have been linked with a host of players throughout the summer as Jurgen Klopp readies his team for a return to the Champions League group stage next month.
Liverpool have signed three players so far this summer, after having tied up deals for Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.
However, the Merseyside outfit continue to be linked with a number of other stars as the clock ticks down on the current transfer window.
And former Liverpool man Aldridge wants to see the club quickly step up their transfer dealings before the close of the window next Thursday by bringing in a new defender and central midfielder.
Writing in his column for the Irish Independent, Aldridge said: “You would hope that the people working at Anfield to secure transfers would have a few more irons in the fire.
“Whatever Klopp might say publicly, he knows he needs to sign a top centre-back and a player who can offer something in the heart of the midfield to give Liverpool a chance of winning trophies this season.
“The moment has come for Liverpool to splash the cash and make some big signings and all involved in the club’s transfer negotiations appreciate they need to deliver now.”
Liverpool are currently gearing up for their crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they look to build on their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
The Reds, who finished in fourth place in the Premier League last season, also booked their place in the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday night after a 4-2 win over Hoffenheim at Anfield.
