Liverpool haven’t made contact with club about signing 24-year-old Argentinian, claims insider
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol reveals Liverpool haven't made contact with West Ham in the summer transfer window so far
Liverpool have not made contact with West Ham about the possibility of signing Manuel Lanzini so far in the summer transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Reds are fending off competition from La Liga giants Barcelona in their number 10 playmaker Philippe Coutinho in recent weeks.
The Merseyside outfit are thought to have rejected advances from the Catalan side as Barcelona look to replace Brazil striker Neymar.
Coutinho scored 13 goals and made seven assists in 31 appearances in the Premier League last term to help Liverpool finish in the top four.
West Ham forward Lanzini has a good record against the Reds after scoring one goal and making an assist in a 2-1 win against the Merseyside outfit in August 2015.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed that Liverpool haven’t made their interest in the Argentina international concrete, while the Hammers are unwilling to sell the South American forward.
“If Coutinho was to go, who would Liverpool replace him with? One name in the frame has been Manuel Lanzini at West Ham,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.
“He had a very impressive season as a number 10 after Dimitri Payet left in January.
“Liverpool have been linked with him but our understanding at the moment is that there has been no contact with West Ham. And the message from West Ham is loud and clear – Lanzini is not for sale.”
The 24-year-old scored eight goals and made two assists in 35 appearances in the Premier League last season.
Liverpool have already signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window so far.
