Ian Wright sends message to Liverpool fans about replacing Philippe Coutinho
The Arsenal legend is confident Liverpool will be able to replace Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho
Ian Wright believes Liverpool can easily replace Philippe Coutinho in the summer transfer window.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to sign for the La Liga giants before transfer deadline day.
However, Liverpool have already rejected two bids for the Brazil international despite Coutinho handing in a transfer request.
The 25-year-old played a key role in helping the Merseyside outfit to secure a top-four spot last term.
Indeed, the former Inter Milan playmaker scored 13 times and made seven assists to help the Reds beat Arsenal to fourth spot.
Liverpool have been linked with a potential move to sign Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne if Coutinho moves to Barcelona.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Coutinho is easily replaceable in the summer transfer window.
“He will always add some star dust on a game but he can be replaced,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Liverpool need to address the defence. It’s more important for them to get some quality defenders than keeping Coutinho.”
Coutinho moved to Liverpool in an £8.5m deal from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the 2013 January transfer window.
Liverpool have signed three players in the summer so far but have failed to make significant improvements to their defence.
The Reds conceded three times as Liverpool played out a 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane scored against the Hornets.
