Jamie Carragher sends clear message to Liverpool fans about Philippe Coutinho
The Liverpool FC legend is confident Philippe Coutinho won't be sold in the summer transfer window
Jamie Carragher is adamant that Liverpool won’t sell Philippe Coutinho in the current transfer window.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona in recent weeks.
However, the Reds have refused to do business with the Catalan side and have emphasised their number 10 is not for sale.
But Barcelona haven’t been deterred in their pursuit amid talk of the four-time Champions League winners launching a £136m bid.
Coutinho has also handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have only signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson this summer.
The Reds have been left frustrated in their bid to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher is adamant that the Reds won’t sell Coutinho given their lack of summer signings.
“Liverpool were never going to sell him because they haven’t brought enough players in,” Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
Liverpool played out a 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road in their Premier League opener without Coutinho.
The Reds registered their first Premier League win of the season thanks to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.
The Merseyside outfit were 6-3 aggregate winners against Hoffenheim in the Champions League playoff.
