Liverpool are facing two big hurdles in their bid to sign Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk this summer, according to reports

Liverpool must overcome two big hurdles to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to reports in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Merseyside outfit are still hoping to complete a deal to sign Virgil van Dijk before the summer transfer window comes to an end at 23:00 BST on Thursday night.
The story goes on to reveal that Premier League title contenders Chelsea and Manchester City are involved in the race to the Netherlands international from Southampton.
According to the same article, Liverpool have to get past two obstacles to land the 26-year-old centre-half as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his defensive options ahead of the Champions League group stage.
Southampton have decided upon a huge asking price for Van Dijk and the south coast club are determined not to sell the former Celtic defender in the current transfer window.
Van Dijk has been frozen out of the Southampton squad after the Netherlands defender handed in a transfer request earlier this month.
Liverpool were forced to issue a statement aplogising to Southampton for their pursuit of the Dutch centre-half earlier this summer.
The Reds officially ended their interest in the Saints captain but Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for the stylish defender.
