Steven Gerrard sends huge message to Liverpool fans about summer signings
The Liverpool legend is confident Jurgen Klopp will make some big-name signings before transfer deadline day
Steven Gerrard says he is quietly confident that Jurgen Klopp will land some big Liverpool signings before transfer deadline day.
The Reds have endured a largely frustrating summer transfer window so far having failed to get deals over the line for two of their top targets.
Liverpool were forced to issue a statement apologising to Southampton over their pursuit of Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk.
The Merseyside outfit continue to be linked with a move to sign the former Celtic defender but face competition from Premier League champions Chelsea.
The Reds have also been left frustrated in their pursuit of the RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita after the Bundesliga outfit rejected two club-record bids for the Guinea star.
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah in a £39m deal last month to add greater depth to their attacking options ahead of the 2017-18 season.
The 18-time English champions have also signed Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson.
Former Liverpool captain Gerrard is confident that the Merseyside outfit will recruit a couple of big-name signings before transfer deadline day.
“There’s still three weeks to go [in the transfer window] and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jurgen’s got a couple of cards up his sleeve and he brought a couple of big signings in,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
