Jamie Carragher sends message to Jurgen Klopp about Liverpool signings
The Liverpool legend believes Jurgen Klopp requires some additions before the close of the summer transfer window
Liverpool still need some additions before the close of the summer transfer window, Jamie Carragher has admitted.
The Reds have only signed three players in the summer transfer window so far, having failed to get deals over the line for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool snapped up AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah in a club-record £39m deal last month, while the Reds have added Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson to the squad.
However, Jurgen Klopp has been unable to add more numbers to his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Liverpool will compete on four fronts this season after the Reds benefited from a campaign without European football last term to finish in fourth place.
Former Reds defender Carragher believes Klopp will have to bring in some more new faces before the close of the summer transfer window.
“I look at the Liverpool squad now. There needs to be more additions,” Carragher told The Debate on Sky Sports.
“We spoke about the squad not being good enough. They haven’t done the business they want to do.”
Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds haven’t won a trophy since Kenny Dalglish led the Merseyside outfit to League Cup glory in 2012.
