The Reds managed to keep their first clean sheet of the season against the Eagles after conceding four goals in their opening two fixtures of the new season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is backing Liverpool to ease to a 4-2 aggregate win against Hoffenheim to secure their place in the Champions League group stage.
“They’re an exciting attacking side though and Sadio Mane’s pace is frightening,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“We’ll wait to see what we get with Daniel Sturridge this season, but I don’t see anything other than a home win, although I’d expect both teams to score.”
If Liverpool can avoid defeat on Wednesday night, the Reds will secure a place in the group-stage draw alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
