Gary Neville predicts where Man United, Chelsea will finish this season
Gary Neville is tipping either Manchester United or Manchester City to win the Premier League ahead of Chelsea this season
Gary Neville believes that either Manchester United or Manchester City will win the Premier League title this season – ahead of Chelsea.
The west London side are preparing to kick off their Premier League title defence this weekend with a home clash against Burnley at Stamford Bridge after their impressive triumph under Antonio Conte last term.
Chelsea won the Premier League title last term in Conte’s first campaign in charge but they did not have the distraction of European football.
Now, former Manchester United star Neville is tipping one of City or United to lift the trophy next May, although he does concede that Pep Guardiola’s men are probably favourites for the title.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Tuesday, Neville said: “I said last season that the title will come to Manchester and was badly wrong but I do feel it will be between City and United this time.
“I do make City favourites in the sense that they were nearer to it last season and they’ve added again, spent a lot of money, and United need to make a huge leap, but Chelsea did it last season to win the title.”
Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup on Tuesday night in Macedonia.
The Red Devils must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the table last term and will be desperate to improve their form in the top flight as they look to win the title for the first time since 2013.
