Pat Nevin predicts where Man United, Man City will finish in title race
The former Chelsea winger admits Manchester United's 4-0 win has made him rethink his title predictions
Pat Nevin has admitted that Manchester United’s 4-0 win against West Ham has made him think twice about the Premier League title race.
Chelsea made a disastrous start to the defence of their Premier League crown last weekend following a 3-2 loss to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City kicked off after the eventual fixture in west London and Pep Guardiola’s side eased to a 2-0 victory over promoted side Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Citizens are being heavily tipped to ease to a first Premier League title under Guardiola after spending in excess of £200m on new signings this summer.
Manchester United were impressive 4-0 winners against West Ham United last Sunday in what was described as the standout performance of the weekend.
Romelu Lukaku scored either side of half-time before late goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba secured three points for the Red Devils.
Former Chelsea winger Nevin admitted that Manchester United’s display against the Hammers has made him rethink his prediction that Manchester City will win the title.
“I went for Man City at the start of the season but Man United’s performance made me think about it,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League last season but haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013.
Manchester City, meanwhile, won the Premier League crown in 2014 under Manuel Pellegrini.
