Robbie Savage has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils appointed Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor last summer but the Portuguese coach could only lead Manchester United to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Mourinho started to rebuild the club’s winning mentality, though, after Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League to secure a return to the Champions League.

The 54-year-old signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.

The latter pair were key to Manchester United’s impressive 4-0 win against West Ham in the opening day of the Premier League season.

Manchester United were 4-0 winners against Swansea city at the Liberty Stadium in their second Premier League fixture on Saturday.

Former Leicester City midfielder Savage reiterated his stance that Manchester United were title favourites after their resounding victories over West Ham and Swansea.
“People wanted excitement, they got that,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Pace, power and movement. It was a brilliant performance. Man United have put a marker down. They’re my title favourites and I have no reason to change my mind after that performance.”
