Paul Merson states his prediction for Man United v Leicester
Paul Merson is tipping Manchester United to edge to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday
Paul Merson has tipped Manchester United to claim a narrow 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils head into the game fresh from having thrashed both West Ham United and Swansea City by a 4-0 scoreline to leave Jose Mourinho’s men flying high at the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester United are looking to drastically improve their Premier League form this season after struggling to find consistent performances last term and ending up in sixth place in the table.
However, Mourinho did steer the Red Devils back into the Champions League thanks to their Europa League triumph last term.
And former Arsenal star Merson is tipping Manchester United to claim all three points against Leicester City on Saturday evening in front of their home fans.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “I’m not on the Manchester United bandwagon at the moment.
“They didn’t look like scoring against West Ham for 25 minutes, and they were far from convincing against Swansea until their late flurry of goals.
“Leicester, meanwhile, have started the season well. They will be dangerous against a United side that are obliged to attack at Old Trafford.
“I see them putting up a real fight, but United should overpower Leicester in the end.”
Manchester United are aiming to win the Premier League this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement at the end of the 2012-13 season.
The Red Devils have been pitted against Benfica, Basel and CSKA Moscow in the group stage of the Champions League as they also look to find form in Europe’s elite club competition.
