Andy Townsend has been very impressed by Manchester United's transfer business this summer
Andy Townsend believes that Manchester United have done some brilliant transfer business this summer.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a host of players throughout the window but ended up doing their business early to bring in three new players.
Manchester United signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic as Jose Mourinho readied his squad for his second season in charge.
Mourinho also moved to re-sign veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year contract following his successful stint at the club last season.
And Townsend has been incredibly impressed by how Manchester United have gone about their transfer business this summer.
Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports on Wednesday night, Townsend said: “They’ve done fantastic. Their business has been great.
“They needed a big centre forward, someone who could handle the responsibility, and they got that in Romelu Lukaku.
“I think Victor Lindelof will turn out to be a good signing; physically he’s got a little bit to find for the Premier League.”
Manchester United, who finished sixth last term, have made a flying start to the new Premier League season after having won all three of their opening games.
The Red Devils thrashed both West Ham United and Swansea City 4-0, before following that up with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Mourinho’s men return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday 9 September.
