Gary Neville sends message to Man United fans about Anthony Martial
Gary Neville says that Marcus Rashford should not be replaced by Anthony Martial in the Manchester United team
Gary Neville believes that Marcus Rashford should not have to make way for Anthony Martial in the Manchester United starting line-up this season.
Rashford has started both of the Red Devils’ first two Premier League games of the season and has helped Jose Mourinho’s men to notch up back to back 4-0 victories.
Martial, meanwhile, has been limited to appearances from the bench in the top flight so far, but has managed to score twice in two cameo appearances for his side.
However, despite Martial’s impressive impact after coming off the bench, former Manchester United defender Neville does not believe that should necessarily mean that he replaces Rashford in the line-up.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “Martial has been devastating when coming off the bench but there’s no doubt he’s coming on against teams that are tired.
“He’s a brilliant finisher, his composure is brilliant.
“It’d be unfair for him to come in [at the] expense of Rashford. If you look at his work, his dribbles, his sprints.”
Manchester United are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table after their impressive start to the new season.
The Red Devils are now preparing to take on Leicester City in their next top-flight game at Old Trafford on Saturday evening as they look to extend their fine start to the new campaign.
Mourinho will be hoping his side will be able to significantly better their sixth-placed finish in the table last term.
